Thu 5/12: TRH & Schooner Exact’s Rad ReCYCLE The Bike Night, 6pm

11 May

For Bike Month, we pair up with PierceTrips.org to promote bikes on the big screen. This year, we also invited our pals Schooner Exact Brewing to the party. For our ReCYCLE The Bike Night, we’ll be giving away a bike crafted right here in Tacoma from bikey man of men, Matty News, and the folks at Tacoma’s Second Cycle. This is the TRH/SE Urban Assault Growler Getter:

The par-tay gets going at 6pm, featuring Schooner Exact offerings of their 3-Grid IPA, Regrade Pale, Gateway Golden, King Street Brown, and Profanity Hill Porter. Drawing is around 8, as we prep for some VHS delight of Cru Jones and his wicked awesome bike dancing:

Wed 4/20: Victory Brewing Company Glassware Night, 6pm

19 Apr

Wednesday Eve, we’ll feature two of TRH’s favorite beers, made by fine purveyors of sticky-icky hop goodness: Victory Brewing Company.

Both brews will be served in their own appropriate glass that you can keep (if you’re one of the first 60 or so people to grab a pint). We will feature two of Victory’s beers, the equally amazing Hop Devil IPA (served in a Shaker Pint glass) and Prima Pils (served in a footed Pils glass).

Keep the glass, and build that glassware collection! Glasses start going out at 6pm, good times and great brews shall ensue…

Wed 2/9: Firestone Walker @ TRH, 6pm

9 Feb

Wednesday Night, we’re puttin’ on a few good ones from Firestone Walker Brewing Company. Two from their Proprietor’s Reserve Series (2010 Parabola and Fourteen), and two from their Pale Series (Union Jack IPA and Double Barrel Ale).

Parabola – Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout
abv:13%
malts: Crisp Maris Otter Pale, Munich, Cara-hell, Carafa, Dark & Light Crystal, Chocolate, Oats, Roasted Barley
hops: Bittering—Zeus; Late Kettle—Hallertau
This has been cellaring nicely for 8 months. Bold bourbon and tobacco aromas and a rich dark chocolate, charred oak flavor.

Fourteen – Barrel Aged Strong Anniversary Ale
abv: 12.5%
malts: Determined by final blend
hops: Determined by final blend
blend: 31% Double Double Barrel Ale, 29% Sticky Monkey, 27% Parabola, 7% Velvet Merkin, 3% Good Foot, 3% Black Xantus. It’s been in our cellar for 4 months, and is no longer available in our area.

Union Jack IPA
abv: 7.5%
malts: Premium Two-Row (Metcalf & Kendall varieties), Munich, Cara Pils, Simpson’s Light Crystal
hops: 4 lbs/per barrel: Bittering—Warrior, Simcoe; Late Kettle—Cascade, Centennial; Dry Hops—Amarillo, Cascade, Centennial, Chinook, Simcoe
This IPA is a TRH favorite, with big citrus flavors, very mellow, a damn solid beer.

DBA (Double Barrel Ale)
abv: 5.0%
malts: Premium Two-Row, Maris Otter Pale, Munich, Crystal, Chocolate
hops: Bittering—Magnum; Late Kettle—Styrian Golding, East Kent Golding; Dry Hops—East Kent Golding
An English Pale/Bitter, the flagship offering from FW, for good reason.

Unnamed

It all kicks off at 6pm. To sweeten the pot, we’ll be giving away a grip of Firestone Walker snifters. For glassware hounds, these are not available in Washington State…or Oregon for that matter. From the Bear Republic itself, to TRH, to you. Parabola and Fourteen are VERY limited, so plan accordingly.

Sun 2/6: Beer From Here, and For Your Rear…

4 Feb

Yes, we know Rainier beer is no longer made in Washington. Total and complete bummer. On the flip side, there is no denying the memories that big red “R” will drum up. If you are above enjoying the simple macro beer of our region, this is not for you. However, if you tip back a tall can every now and then around the campfire, then this IS for you:

Rainier. Beer. Camp. Chairs.

Complete with double can holders, these are sure to bless your next outdoor adventure, be it in your backyard, or the wilds of our beautiful state.

Even the backs of these beauties will label your seat for easier locating after a trip to the nearest tree…

Each comes complete with it’s own carrying/storage device, for the person on the go…

We’ve been holding onto this pair for quite some time, and will be raffling them off during halftime of the Super Bowl, Sunday February 6. They go as a pair, so just like in Highlander, in the end (middle?) there can be only one (winner).

Win This Bike

25 Aug

On Wednesday, September 1st, starting at 6pm, we’ll be having a little hootenanny. New Belgium and The Red Hot Bike-In Movie. Beer Garden, outdoor movie, and giving away a suave set of wheels.

It’s been hanging on our wall for almost three years now. I gave it a test drive in front of my house when it was delivered, and thats it. Brand new. It’s a 2007 or 2008 Felt, numbered frame New Belgium Cruiser Bike, with coaster brake, single-speed, rear and front racks, and powder coated frame. Red.

You can enter once a day at TRH, and NO ENTRIES DAY OF DRAWING. We’ll fire up the beer garden around 6pm (New Belgium delights such as 1554, Hoptoberfest, Ranger IPA, Erics Ale, and Blue Paddle Pilsner will be there to indulge your beery desires), start the movie (most requests so far are for Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure) around 7:30-ish, and raffle off the mighty cruiser after the flick. NBB bike bells and tire patch kits will be being tossed about freely, we’ll do the t-shirt thing, and it will be a fantasticly fun way to get over the hump o’ the week.

3 Years, This Saturday

10 Aug

This Saturday, August 14th, we’re gettin’ together with all our pals to celebrate 3 years of The Red Hot being around. Beer Garden, hard to find beers, easy to find beers (26 on tap, 13 inside and 13 outside), canned beers, hot dogs, sausages, great weather, giveaways, and good times.

We’ll be tapping some 2009 Deschutes Abyss, Firestone Walker Parabola Stout & Double Jack IPA, Port Townsend Green Tea Golden, Silver City Whoop Pass IIPA, Ommegang Zuur, Black Raven Wisdom Seeker, Walking Man Runaway IPA, Human Blockhead Tough as Nails Lager, Double Mountain Som O Dat & Vaporizer, Schooner Exact Seamstress Union, a special Cherry Belgian Gold blend from our pals at Hales…you get the point.

Beer Garden opens at 1pm, goes til 11pm. 21 and over as always, no jerks allowed.

Beat the Heat With Woody

28 Jul

Woody is a travelling tavern on wheels. It’s a giant wooden keg that opens up into a tavern, complete with stereo and disco ball.

Woody is from our pals at Deschutes Brewing. He’s in Tacoma today rolling around, and will be making a full-fledge stop at The Red Hot Wednesday Night @ 7pm until close. We’ll be pouring a ‘heat-friendly’ batch of beers on tap in the outdoor beer garden out of Woody: Deschutes Red Chair IPA (from Deschutes Bond Series of beers), Green Lakes Organic Amber, Twilight Ale, & Black Butte Porter. There may even be some surprise handles. All Deschutes handles are on special. The best part is we reworked the beer garden so it’s all in the shade. Hell. Yes. We’ll be on our “BBQ Menu” for the night due to increased capacity, but at least it’s easier on your purse strings…and your hot ass living room. We’re giving away shirts, hats, growlers, glasses, and even a Deschutes Skate deck.

It’s gonna be a damn good time!

You, too, can build your own Obama.

I have some printed out on cardstock here at TRH if any of you lovely patrons want one. Be careful of that site and it’s links…I lost hours!
