Help Someone Out, Get a $1 Pint

4 Dec

Being a kid with no Christmas just plain sucks. Every year me and my family have ‘adopted’ kids during the holidays through United Way. This means you help to provide some gifts for those who need a little help. This year, I signed The Red Hot up with United Way of Pierce County to adopt a local family of 6. 5 children (ages 3 to 14) and one adult. I have a list of items these children need (clothing), and a list of items these children want (no “big ticket” items…all are $20 or less). We’re also going to provide them with a gift card to buy a family meal for the holidays.

If you would like to help, these lists of items, including sizes and specifics, are behind the bar at The Red Hot. We need to have everything giftwrapped and labeled by December 17th. Make a donation of one of the gifts listed, or a few bucks to go toward a meal, and I’ll give you any beer I have on tap for 1 dollar. 2 gifts, 2 pints for $2. 3 gifts, 3 pints for $3. Get it?

You can email me for a list of items at martindelmar at gmail dot com if you don’t have the time to stop in. I can wrap stuff and label it for ya if you don’t have time for that. We have about half the items ready to go. Thanks to anyone for helping out. Hopefully we can adopt a few families next year.

Sounds like a great idea. I’ll likely hit you up for the list of items remaining sometime on Friday or Saturday since that’s when I’m liable to be out shopping anyway.
